If you need some fancy formatting, you can export your report results as csv file, and then import the file to e.g. Excel, where you have virtually unlimited possibilities.
Also, you can hit Ctrl+A on your report spreadsheet to select all records, and then Ctrl+C to copy them to the Windows clipboard. Then in Excel hit Ctrl+V to paste the records.
One of the most useful reports is "Transactions by criteria". Select a date range in the left sidebar, and check "Show subtotals". Click on a column header to sort by that column and get the corresponding subtotals.
