Arranging transactions in date order

Can someone please advise me how to enter a transaction for a future date so that it appears in the correct date order relative to previous entries? For example I am now trying to enter a bill payable on January 21, but it appears adjacent to today's date. I have tried cut-and-paste, insert, copy-and-paste without success.

Scheduled transactions ALWAYS appear after real transactions in an account's register, since they have not been entered yet. There is no way a scheduled bill for Jan 21 2014 can appear next to today's transactions in an account's register. Are you sure you are actually entering a scheduled transaction?

Thank you for your advice. I have not explained my query very well. I have been trying to enter a future transaction directly into the register, as I was accustomed to doing with Quicken. I now understand that such transactions must be "scheduled".

That is correct. Future transactions can only be entered from the Schedules page.
