Portfolio shows 0 shares (show sold NOT checked)

Post by pantalone »

Hello All,

I recently sold all shares of a stock, call it ABC. My portfolio view continues to show that stock with a quantity of zero, even though "show sold stocks" in the options page is NOT checked. However, the "total" column shows 0.0004 so I can only assume that AceMoney still thinks that some tiny fraction of a share remains in the account. I have tried to delete the sell transaction and re-enter it, but I get the same result every time. How can I convince AceMoney to stop showing ABC in the portfolio view?

Investments deal with fractions, usually 4-6 decimal digit places at a minimal. What you describe sounds like a rounding issue where very small fractions are being rounded off, producing the illusion of zero without actually being zero. AceMoney displays up to 4 decimal places in the Portfolio, but IIRC it actually supports values up to 6 decimal places in the actual data. So you might not have actually sold all of the shares that AceMoney was tracking.

I recently encountered the same issue. Any advise on how to fix it, i.e. make the investment disappeared from the portfolio?

The only way I know is to manually calculate what the remaining fraction of shares may be, and then record a "Remove Shares" transaction for that amount.
