Post by gmc »

Im new to AM and have been reading through all the docs but can't seem to interstand the follow.

Under portfolio I've created a new investement which pulls updates from Bloomberg.

Then I did 3 new transaction, entered number of shares, price, and action=buy. All good there, I can see the total values of investements.

If however I select the account under which the investements are created they all appear as negative numbers. Also the total value of these then shows are 0 USD under investements.

What am I doing wrong?

They are negative transactions, since you are purchasing new shares using money from the account. To show the total value of the account on the home screen, go to the "Tools" menu, choose "Options", and enable the "Add value of investment to account balance" checkbox.

Thanks. I've got that option already ticked. Balance is still showing zero.

The balance *inside* the account itself could be 0, yes, if the individual transactions add up to 0 (whatever is deposited into the account is used to buy new shares).

However, on the *home screen*, the account balance can display the portfolio balance (# of shares times last known price) when "Add value of investment to account balance" is enabled.
