I have begun to enter my stocks in to AceMoney. My stocks are subscribed to the Dividend Reinvestment Plan, so I select Reinvest Dividend under the Action heading. Inevitably, the dividend payment I receive and the deducted amount for purchase of new shares under this DRIP plan leaves me with some cash left over, which is added to the next dividend payment six months later and the cycle continues...
All that is fine, but on occasion the dividend payment is less than the amount needed to purchase the shares because previous residual amount is also used. However, unless I am doing something wrong, AceMoney doesn't seem to allow for this. The dividend payment has to be greater than the cost, regardless. I am therefore unable to enter the transactions for the account because I get the warning:
Number of shares, price per share, dividend, commission and total must be positive!
Is this a bug, or have I made an error? Any advice is appreciated please. On a side note, I can never get AceMoney to download any stock prices from the Financial Times, anyone else have similar issues?
Many thanks,
Andy
Investment account / cash balance
Re: Investment account / cash balance
I'm not sure if it is a bug or not, but I have an investment that also reinvests dividends, and whenever I import the transactions from my investment provider's site, they import as simple buys, not reinvests, so I always have to edit the transactions to make sure the account balance does not change while the number of shares does change. AceMoney does not seem to handle reinvestments very well. In fact, its whole investment portfolio management could use some TLC in general.
