Begin a New Year

How do I begin a new year without having to start from scratch and enter all new information? Starting with a brand new file involves too much work. I'm sure there is an easier way - delete all entries and rename the file? Seems like such an obvious question would be treated in the help section.

AceMoney has an Archive feature (the "File > Archive" menu), and it is documented in the help file. Archiving moves transactions to a separate file, preserving Payees and Categories as needed, and then erases archived transactions from the current file and updates each Account's starting balance accordingly so the current balance is maintained.

and really this should be done at the end of the Financial (Fiscal) Year as opposed to the real year, as I'm in the UK and our Financial (Fiscal) Year starts on the 6th April, I usually wait until June so that all transactions have been downloaded and reconciled, then will Archive 6th April 2013 to 5th April 2014.

Thank you for that info. But now I have another problem. I used the archive function, and then deleted all off my previous transactions up to the end of the year. I realized I had failed to reconcile an account so I attempted to load the archive. There is no data in it! It appears I have lost all of my data for the entire year!

Also, is there no "undo" function. when I deleted the old files I tried to find one but could not.

It is very unlikely the data is lost, especially if the archive file itself is not empty (what is the size of the file?).

Perhaps the "Hide reconciled transactions" option is enabled in the Account?

No, there is no undo option if you choose to delete transactions during the archiving process, since it is creating a new file and modifying the original.
