Suggestions/Features Request Thread

I am going to start the ball rolling on these forums by starting this 'AceMoney Suggestions/Features Request Thread' where anyone can post desired features they would like added to new versions.
My desired features are as follows:
1/ UK banks added to the automatic transaction download list
2/ Some major European financial indexes added (eg Nikkei and FTSE)
3/ Ability to change the bank/building society detail's fields to Sort Code and Roll Number instead of the American Routing and Transfer Codes fields
4/ Add an 'Asset' account section to record things like house value/car value etc (MS Money had these), and what about a dedicated Mortgage Account section - or would that come under Investment Accounts?
Anyone have any other ideas on what they would like added/changed in the program?

Even if I could, I wouldn't want to download transactions directly from a bank - not normally possible in the UK anyway - as the tendency might be to assume that they're accurate. I prefer to reconcile accounts manually.
Having said that, mistakes have occurred when I've inadvertently entered a transaction as, for example, a withdrawal when it should have been a deposit. My fault, of course, but I just wondered whether it might be possible to implement an optional small non-intrusive 'traffic light indicator' to highlight the
type of transaction being entered - red withdrawal, green deposit and amber for a transfer.
I suspect that MechCad have no shortage of work to do, and I don't want to add to their burden, but I do think that this would be a useful feature and one that's reasonably easy to code.
Just my tuppence worth...

My suggestion is that suggestions / new features has it's own forum (sub forum to AM forum), otherwise this thread is going to get real messy real quick.
There should also be a forum for bugs.

+1 but not only for UK banks, also for Spanish, i.e.

You can set your mortage under the 'Loan Section', as well as any other loan you could have.

You can do this yourself Manually. Since MS Money and Quicken had them, I was used to that as well and setup the header myself. Taking a quick look, I don't remember how I did it..
Okay, another look and found it. Under "Accounts" in the top menu-bar. There is an option to create or edit new groups or modify what is there already. I also for sorting purposes, put a z in front of assets since I work with them less (they show up on the bottom this way). Just like I've used 100, 101, etc for the accounts I use a lot to put them at the top of that group. The possibilities are up to your imagination I'd guess within reason.

One thing I would love to see added into the program is customisable field layouts for different Accounts Groups.
I've set up several new Accounts Groups in addition to the default ones - for example Assets, Childrens Trust Funds, Mortgage, Savings Accounts etc. In some of these I like the field in the account transactions view to be maximised to show the transaction category (eg Current Account mainly) whereas in other types of Accounts I really want to be able to set the Comments Field to be the widest eg for Loans and Mortgage Groups where I have a lot of comments put into each transaction.
At the moment the way the program works if you expand or reduce one field size it affects all the Account Groups.
It would be great if you could configure these fields and each Account Group remembered its own individual settings for these. It would be even better if you could remove fields and add fields to the transaction screen and have them remain as set for the different Account Groups for example I dont use the number field in most of the accounts I have so I would love to be able to get rid of that field in some but keep it for my Current Account for example where I use it to distinguish debit, direct debit, cheque and cash machine transactions etc.
Anyway just a thought.

Hello,
I have an account at the Deutsche Bank (DB) in Belgium. My problem is the import of the movements on this account. DB provides a csv file which cannot be 'as is' into AceMoney. I use a selfmade vbs application to re-arrange the text file according to AceMoney import file format. This new file has then to be imported in AceMoney.
My wish would be to have the possibility to have a user-defined import task manager with at least the possibility of setting the path and the file name to import. The possibilty to add the destination account would be a plus.
Thanks in advance ...
and
Best regards

Love the programme and have been using it for many years.
A feature I would like to see is on the home page which aggregates the current financial position across accounts and sub-groups of accounts. What would be good is and additional identical column that you could dial in some date in the past and thus see at a glance, side by side, how your finances are fairing over a given period.
