Categorising Transations

Post by amilbourn »

HI,
I am new with AceMoney so this may be down to ignorance to please bare with me. If I load a file of transations then there will be some payees who have not been categorised. Say I go to a new shop and buy food there for instance. I can categorise this on the screen OK, the problem is that this is not retrospective to existing cases of the transaction, nor does it feed into import rules if it occurs again. It looks like I need to create the categorisation on the screen and then go into the import rules screen and create it there as well and then come out again. This is fairly time consuming and tedious. Is there a way around this I have missed at all please? If not has anyone put this on a wishlist to fix it?

I would add that as I am in the UK the standard import rules do not help much. If someone could come up with an import rules file for the UK that would be good.

You can create a new Import Rule from an existing transaction (right-click on the transaction and choose "Create Import Rule..."). Your Import Rules should be created before you import, however there is an option to run the Import Rules on existing transactions after they have been entered (right-click on a transaction and choose "Apply Import Rules").

I am actually working on a utility app that allows AceMoney's built-in import rules to be edited (as well as editing Currencies and OFX bank info). I am hoping to that app released in the near future.

OK thanks very much for that, seems like the exact answer.
