Automating Categories?

Post by designla »

HI, I searched for this and it seems like it should be intuitive, but here goes:
I'm reconciling a lot of entries. Is there a way to assign a category to one payee and have it repeat everywhere that payee is in the register? I tried " create import rule" but I belive that only works with newly imported items and not items already in teh register. Thanks in advance!

Categories are assigned per-transaction, not per-payee. The closest you can get is to highlight the desired transactions in the Register, right-click on them, and choose "Change category..." to assign a single category to all of them.

When you right-click on selected transaction(s), there is also an option to "Apply Import Rules" to them.

Thank you ! It would be super useful if there were a way to assign in bulk, like if one could assign a classification to each payee. Also, Import rules don't work all the time, some default back to their pre-assigned class.

This is a peer support forum. MechCAD does not monitor it. Bugs and Feature Requests need to be submitted to MechCAD Support directly.
