At the moment there are 24 accounts within AceMoney, but only 3 are open. I'm experimenting with the idea of separating the 3 open accounts from the 21 closed accounts for personal reasons. I have backups of my AMJ files so worst case scenario is I can restore everything back to the way it was.
After several failed attempts (i.e. transactions vanishing), what follows seems to be working.
I exported each account to its own CVS file. Starting with a clean slate, I imported only the CVS files for the 3 open accounts. All the transactions are there and show the correct final balance. But I haven't started to enter any new transactions just yet.
One thing I noticed, on the "Accounts" page, where it lists the name of each account, each name is followed by a number in parenthesis. For example...
Checking #75 (5)
Savings #01 (3)
Credit Card (24)
I couldn't find any reference about this, but one guess is they represent the number of transactions that reference a closed account. I've tried to figure it out but can't seem to come up with those numbers. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this?
I'm also wondering if I can safely continue to update those open accounts, without having issues later... i.e transactions disappearing and/or the balance changing.
Thanks

Re: Removing Accounts
Typically, you should just "close" an account so it is hidden, but not deleted. That way all history for it is still available and accounted for.Cobra wrote:At the moment there are 24 accounts within AceMoney, but only 3 are open. That is the number of transactions that are in the "I" (imported) state. When you mark those transactions as Cleared/Reconciled, the number will decrease, and then disappear when it reaches 0.Cobra wrote:One thing I noticed, on the "Accounts" page, where it lists the name of each account, each name is followed by a number in parenthesis. I can't comment on why transactions are disapearing, but yeah, as you enter in new transactions, the balance is obviously going to change.Cobra wrote:i.e transactions disappearing and/or the balance changing.
Re: Removing Accounts
That's good. I'll continue updating the accounts this weekend. Unless I post any issues, it means all is well. Thanks for helping.
