Bulk reconcile

Post by rlangham »

I am currently a Quicken user and looking for a replacement. The biggest feature I would like to have is the ability to do bulk reconcile of transactions from my bank. With Debit cards so commonly used for everyday transactions, I may have 100's of transactions a month. I do not want to go and resolve and categorize them one by one, takes forever. With many that occur over and over again I would like to have a screen that shows all unreconciled and then filter based on amount, payee, payee type (e.g. grocery, gasoline) etc. From this select all or some and do a single reconcile/categorize.

Does AceMoney have anything like this?

Inside a given account's register, you can select multiple transactions, and then right-click on them. The popup menu will have "Change Category", "Change Payee", and "Reconciled" options to update all of the selected transactions at one time (in the latter case, you can also just press 'R' on the keyboard, too).

The closest option to get that would be to use the "Balance Account" button on the account register's sidebar, but you can't make changes to the transaction details, only reconcile them.

You could simply enable the "Hide reconciled transactions" checkbox at the bottom of each account's register, then you would only see unreconciled transactions, and you can then edit them as needed.

thanks, sounds like this may be something then worth downloading the trial version and giving it a try.

kinda hoping there is some search filter/sorting option in the transaction list to help group the items to make it easier to multi-select. e.g. search by "McDonalds" or sort by amount since I have some monthly regular withdrawals of the same amount

In an account's transaction register, you can certainly sort displayed transactions by name or amount, or any other column that you have enabled for display.
